The sun is hot, but not so hot! That’s why this shelter is constructed of UPF 50+ fabric (laboratory tested). The primary fabric is treated with white coating to ward off 98%+ of harmful UV rays—this offers the best UV protection factor of any fabric.

Note: The fabric is very protective, but there is a possibility of the UV rays entering through the front opening. Always use sun cream to exposed skin and always wear a hat for complete protection. But for lounging, changing clothes or a midday nap, you’ll be glad to know the roof and walls actively protect your skin.

No one ever anticipates rain but the weather changes. This shelter is constructed of water-resistant polyurethane coated polyester material which protects from light rain, drizzle and early dew. Wind Resisted till 30 km/h (Force 4).

The wind at the beach is nonstop. This shelter is wind tunnel tested to resist winds of about 30 km/h (Force 4 on the Beaufort scale) – moderate breezes with small waves and loose sand.

Here are some tips on how to be more efficient in the wind:

1. Do use the steel pegs provided (5mm wide, twist resistant). On very windy days, have a heavy object inside on the windward side – a backpack loaded with gear or a half sand/stone stuff sack works great. The fiberglass poles (4mm lower arch, 5mm upper arch) will provide excellent breakage resistance.
2. The type of doors is privacy and protection. The zipped door will be a feature you use regularly:

• Partial Close: Wind, dust and sand are kept off your property; still allows airflow.
• Fully closed: Converts the shelter into a fully private changing room. Take away damp swimsuit, change into dry clothes or breastfeed in private. It’s not intended for permanent use in a garden, but rather for occasional outdoor use. This shelter is for adventures, not abandonment. It is designed to last up to about 4 weeks in the outside for an entire year. This will cause the fabric to deteriorate with long-term, constant exposure to the sun (several months in the backyard). Wind resistant up to 30 kmph – Force 4.

There can be strong breezes at the beach. This shelter is designed to resist a wind of around 30km per hour (moderate breeze) with small waves and loose sand blowing.

The following are some tips for enhancing wind performance:

1. Never use any other pegs, only the ones provided which are of galvanized steel and twist-resistant (5mm wide).
2. On extremely windy days, put a heavy object inside on the windward side; a backpack filled with gear or the stuff sack half full of sand or stones is ideal.
3. Fiberglass poles are 4mm thick at the bottom of the arch, 5mm thick at the top of the arch and are designed for excellent break resistance.

Door Configuration: Privacy and Protection

The zippered door will be a door you will use often:

• Partially closed: Wind, dust and sand will not enter, while some air can pass through.
• Fully closed: Converts the shelter into a private changing room. Take off damp swimwear, change into dry clothes or nurse a baby in complete privacy.
